The Portal Middle High School boys basketball team has earned a spot in the Elite 8 of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) State Basketball Tournament.

Up next, the Portal Panthers will take on Wilkinson County High School Warriors at Portal Middle High School on Wednesday, March 1. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with tip off at 6 p.m.

The Panthers entered the GHSA playoffs as the number one seed after winning the Region 3A - Div. II championship. The Wilkinson County Warriors also entered as the number one seed after winning the Region 5A - Div. II championship.

As both teams entering the quarterfinals were number one seeds, a coin flip determined which team would host. Portal High won the coin flip.

The game will be streamed on the NFHS Network, which requires a subscription.

The winner of this game will move on to the semifinal round at Valdosta State University for an 8:00 p.m. tipoff versus either Dooly County or Macon County.

Wednesday's game is sold out, and only valid tickets purchased from GoFAN or GHSA Passes will be honored for admission. Tickets must be validated at the door before entry. All 700 general admission tickets were sold in 94 minutes after tickets went on sale at 8:00 a.m. on Feb. 27. The remaining seats for Portal’s 900-seat gymnasium are reserved for GHSA passes, media, and team players, coaches and cheerleaders.
