Georgia Southern women's golf advances to its first NCAA Women's Golf Championships after finishing tied for second at the NCAA Lexington Regional on Wednesday at Keene Trace Golf Club.
Georgia Southern shot 288-283-283 (-10) in its second appearance in an NCAA regional. The Eagles pair of 283 rounds ties its second best of the season. The 854 54-hole total is the second lowest of the season and second best in program history.
Louise Reau (70-70-72) led Georgia Southern in the tournament shooting par or better in each round. Reau got off to a strong start in the first two rounds before carding an even par in round three. She tallied five birdies and three bogeys on the round. She finished tied for 5th individually.
Mary Miller used a collegiate personal best 214 to finish seventh individually. The freshman carded three rounds of par or better (72-70-71) as the tournament marked her first posting par or better in all three rounds. Miller finished with 11 birdies and 34 pars.
Drive Tunwannarux finished the tournament strong and shot a GS best 75-70-72 (214). The sophomore carded par or better in the final two rounds. She shot an even par and recorded three birdies in the final round.
Kelsey Chen led the Eagles in round three firing a 4-under-par. She tallied a pair of birdies on both the front and back nine and was bogey free on the round. Chen used a third round best to shoot 7-over in the regional and finish tied for 38th place.
LoraLie Cowart shot 71-81-74 to finish at 10-over-par and 46th individually.
The Eagles led the field in par 4 scoring and combined for nine individual rounds of par or better. GS tallied 177 pars for second in the field.
