GS Softball concludes season at Sun Belt Conference Tournament, falling 9-2 to ULM

Georgia Southern softball's 2025 season came to an end Thursday night with a 9-2 loss to ULM in the Sun Belt Conference quarterfinals.

Fifth-seeded Georgia Southern softball concluded its 2025 season after falling to fourth-seeded ULM, 9-2, on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference tournament at Troy Softball Complex. 

After a 44 minute lightning delay in the bottom of the second, ULM scored five runs on three hits and an Eagle error to take the lead. Georgia Southern cut into the deficit in the top half of the third on a two-out 2-RBI double off the bat of Payton Cushman, making it 5-2. 

The Warhawks extended its lead back out to five in the third on a two-run home run to make it 7-2. ULM's offense continued scoring two more runs for the final score, 9-2. 

Alana Barnard suffered the loss in the circle, surrendering seven runs (five unearned) on six hits. Bailey Holland saw time in relief tossing 1.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits. Morgan Kendrick tossed the final innings of her career as she pitched two innings holding the Warhawks to just one hit. 

Five different Eagles tallied hits in the contest. Payton Cushman led the offense going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs batted in. 

Georgia Southern finishes the season 29-25 overall and 13-11 in Sun Belt play.
