STATESBORO — The Lady Eagles have been making a big noise since this season started. The Eagles are 12-3 overall and not only have been dominating the court, but the current news cycle.

Last Saturday, the Lady Eagles defeated the University of Louisiana Monroe at home in a 69-66 comeback win.

The Eagles outplayed the Warhawks 21-12 in the first quarter, then built a 13-point lead with 7:25 in the second. The Warhawks closed that deficit by going on a 21-4 run and taking a 34-30 lead to end the half.

Coming out the break, the Warhawks extended that lead by 14 with 2:34 left in the third. The Eagles started to slowly chip away at their lead and by the start of the fourth, that lead was down to singles digits and one possession with about one minute left in the game.

With the Warhawks up 66-64, the Eagles inbounded the ball and with a drive and a dish out to senior guard, Terren Ward, scored the game-tying layup with 4.5 seconds left. The Warhawks attempt a half-court pass that is picked off by Ward who banks a 3-point shot off the glass with the clock running down to secure the win for the Eagles.

Ward has been a beacon for the team all season and after this win, Terren Ward received her fourth Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week Honor.

Because of the excitement of the win and the final seconds of the game. The Lady Eagles made the Sports Center Top 10 Plays taking the number one spot. This is only the second time in history that the Lady Eagles have received this honor.

The Eagles will be back in action Thursday evening at Hanner Field House as they take on rivals Appalachian State at 6 p.m.
