The Georgia Southern softball team ran its winning streak to seven and finished off its best season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference with a 6-3 win over App State Friday afternoon at Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium.

The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Janai Conklin homered to left-center field to drive in Emma Davis. In the third inning, a Jess Mazur single down the left field line plated Davis and Katie Perkins to make it 4-0. One inning later, Emma Davis' first collegiate home run made it 6-0 as it also drove in Courtney Ball.

Davis and Ball led the way with a pair of hits apiece. Perkins, Conklin and Mazur each had one.

Morgan Kendrick (W, 1-1) went the first four innings, allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Kyleigh Richardson (SV, 2) finished things off by going the final three innings, allowing a run on three hits with a strikeout.

With the win, the Eagles finish the regular season 30-20, 12-12 in the Sun Belt. The .600 overall winning percentage marks the highest percentage for the squad since joining the Sun Belt in 2015.

With its regular season complete, Southern will now await the rest of the conference to finish up play on Saturday to determine who the Eagles will face in the single-elimination Sun Belt Tournament, to be held in San Marcos, Texas, next week. The Eagles could finish as high as sixth and face the third seed on Thursday or be anywhere from seven to nine and play on Wednesday. App State's season comes to an end.
