California Dreamin'

  • Georgia Southern will spend nine days in California for this Fresno State/USC road trip. The Eagles traveled to Fresno State last Friday and played the game on Saturday. They then bussed to Oxnard on Sunday, where they will stay for the week in preparation for Saturday's game at USC in Los Angeles.
  • The team will practice at River Ridge Playing Fields, training camp location of the Dallas Cowboys, while in Oxnard.

  • This is Georgia Southern's second game ever played in the state of California. The Eagles are 0-1 after falling at Fresno State last week.
  • Clay Helton spent 12 seasons at USC in various capacities. He went 46-24 (.657) as the head coach of the USC Trojans with 12 victories over AP Top 25 teams, including three in the Top 5 and four in the Top 10. He was the first USC head coach to have 10-win seasons in each of his first two full seasons, and he had more wins (21) in his first two full seasons than any Trojan coach.
  • Helton went 27-5 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum when he was the head coach at USC.
  • Georgia Southern is 5-2 all-time in games played in the Pacific Time Zone: 2-0 in Tacoma, WA; 2-0 in Reno, NV, 1-0 in Moscow, ID; and 0-1 in Corvallis, OR and 0-1 in Fresno, CA.
