Kiwanis Club of Statesboro Memorial Scholarship applications now open

Applicants must be a 2024 graduate from a high school in one of the following counties: Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Jenkins, or Screven. This year, the Club will award two additional $2,500 scholarships in memory of member Martha Watring-Ross. Applications are due by Friday, March 1.

Brown Street officially becomes Loretta's Way in touching renaming ceremony

The City of Statesboro officially renamed Brown Street on the city's west side to Loretta's Way in honor and memory of Loretta Johnson Williams, who worked for Pineland Behavioral Health and the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department for many years, in addition to serving in many other civic roles. Several of her family, friends, and local officials gave touching tributes at the street renaming ceremony.
