December 15, 1955 - May 21, 2025
William “Randy” Butler, 69, of Statesboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, at Ogeechee Area Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.
Randy was born on December 15, 1955, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Jacqueline Abrams Butler and William “Bill” Ezra Butler. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Shannon Shalane Butler, and his brothers-in-law: Ronald “Ronnie” Lee, Eric Durden, and Gary Thigpen.
He is survived by his four daughters: Stacy Butler (Ben Bizzelle), Steffani Jackson, Meghan (Steven) Lewis, and Cassidie Butler; his three sisters: Glenda Lee, Sherry Durden, and Willette Thigpen; nine granddaughters, five grandsons, and several dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Randy attended Southeast Bulloch High School and spent much of his life in Statesboro, Georgia. He worked many years in carpentry, roofing, and painting, and was always willing to lend his skills to a friend or family member in need. He had skilled hands and a natural ability with just about any tool—whether it was for a trade or a home project.
A man of few words, Randy believed that “you learn more when you keep quiet and listen.” He found comfort in life’s simple pleasures—riding dirt roads, checking how high the river was, casting a line, and relaxing with a good Western or a NASCAR race. He embraced a slower pace, valued peace and solitude, and loved his family with quiet devotion.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Pastor Travis Smith officiating.
Interment will be at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Glen Craun, Adam Thigpen, Seth Thigpen, Jim Coleman, Garrett Coleman, and Johnny Sparks.
