The annual Statesboro Firecracker Fest could not be stopped by the weather. Despite there being signs of lightning coming through and spoiling our plans of a good Saturday afternoon, Mill Creek Regional Park was able to reopen and the show went on.

Tasheina Canty-White, area elementary school teacher, mom of two sons, and talented musician, recently hosted her first summer camp for children ages 10-14. The unique camp integrated social emotional learning into a fun week of ukuleles, percussion, and songwriting for these local adolescents.

Georgia Southern University's Statesboro and Armstrong campuses have received a $50,000 Embark grant to enhance their food pantry services, benefiting students in need. This grant will allow the Eagle Essentials and Captain's Cupboard Food Pantries to offer perishable food items and improve inventory management and marketing efforts.
