Coming off a huge victory against the Statesboro Blue Devils and their off-week, the Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets continued the momentum in their game against the Island High Sharks.

The Statesboro Regional Art Association (SRAA) is hosting an auction of locally crafted art items to support the upcoming Statesboro Festival of the Arts, set for March 2025. The auction can be accessed in person at Rosengart Gallery or online, with all proceeds benefiting the festival’s planning and execution. The festival aims to create a vibrant arts community in Statesboro, featuring live music, a juried art contest, and a growing list of local artists and vendors.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is advising motorists of upcoming road work and traffic interruptions throughout Southeast Georgia from August 31 to September 6, including Labor Day lane closure restrictions to ensure minimal disruption during the holiday period.

Statesboro High and Brunswick played in the finale of their week-long series on Thursday, August 29th. The Lady Blue Devils defeated the Pirates 14-0.

The Georgia Southern football team opens up its 2024 campaign on Saturday when it hosts Boise State at Allen E. Paulson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:05 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU, as well as streamed online through ESPN+ and the ESPN app. The game will also be available via radio on the Georgia Southern Sports Network.

Food Lion Feeds is launching its annual Sack to Give Back program, partnering with 35 colleges and universities, including Georgia Southern, to combat food insecurity on campuses by donating 1,000 meals for every quarterback sack of the season (up to 30,000 meals per school) to campus food pantries and partner food banks.

The Statesboro Village Builders will host a free Family Fun Resource Day at Pinewood Manor on Packinghouse Road this Saturday, August 31, from 10am until 1:30pm. Come out for free food, free books, door prizes, and lots of helpful information about resources available to our community.

The 13th Annual Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) Workshop at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center invites women of all backgrounds to explore and develop their outdoor skills through hands-on classes from November 1-3, 2024. Registration opens September 2.
