The future of Bulloch County depends on its people, and their voices are more important than ever. To foster that dialogue, Georgia Southern University’s Institute for Vibrant and Engaged Communities (IVEC) recently kicked off its series of Community Conversations in Brooklet. Community members shared their thoughts and concerns about the community.

Georgia Power is currently in touch with its response partners, including local and state governments, as well as other regional utilities as the state prepares for Helene. GP is reminding customers to take time to prepare now, ahead of the storm's arrival.  

Bulloch County Schools are monitoring Tropical Storm Helene. At this time, the latest track from the NWS Hurricane Center has the storm shifting west and impacts are expected Thursday evening and Thursday night, after schools have dismissed. The Grice Connect team will provide continuous updates as new information become available.

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) has partnered with the University System of Georgia (USG) to launch a statewide initiative aimed at reducing student suicides by raising mental health awareness through 988 lifeline decals in residence halls across all public colleges and universities. The initiative is expected to reach 200,000 students.

Georgia Southern alumna Anna Snooks Waters has opened Emmie's Fine Gifts in the Market District. Waters plans to offer timeless gifts for every occasion, including registry options for local brides-to-be.
