The attendees for the basketball doubleheader between Bulloch Academy and Screven County were in for a treat with both games coming down to the final possession. The Lady Gators couldn't come close out the comeback attempt and fell short 56-54. The boys team won 55-53 on the final basket.

Dr. Tilicia Mayo-Gamble, Associate Dean for Practice and Research and Associate Professor of Community Health at Georgia Southern University, has added the title of author to her curriculum vitae. Dr. TMG will be hosting a book signing on December 8 at the Honey Bowen Building to celebrate the launch of her work.

Shop local and support your local artists at the Winter All Fired Up Sale. Held at the Roxie Remley Center in downtown Statesboro, the sale continues through Saturday, December 7. The sale benefits the artists and visual arts programs at the Averitt Center.

The drop will begin at 8am. Anyone in Bulloch County who needs food is encouraged to participate, but you are encouraged to get in line EARLY. Distribution will end at 10am unless the food runs out earlier.

The Hill arena, which will serve as the new home court for Georgia Southern Eagles NCAA basketball games, is officially open. It provides more than 5,500 in seating capacity, a 50% increase over Hanner Fieldhouse. Georgia Southern University officials cut a ceremonial ribbon to open the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center, affectionately known as “The Hill,” in a celebration on Dec. 4.

ReTails Thrift Shop held their annual anniversary sale this past weekend with record sales. The Humane Society cat adoption event also was successful with several cats finding homes.
