On June 25, 2025, the Rotary Club of Statesboro officially passed the gavel as Robert Benson was installed as the club’s new President during their weekly meeting.

Benson takes over from outgoing president Matt Mathews, who was honored for his impactful leadership throughout the 2024-2025 Rotary year.

The annual installation ceremony also welcomed the new Board and Officers who will serve alongside President Benson in the 2025-2026 year. Matt Mathews will continue to support the club as Chairman of the Board, while Elliott Marsh steps up as President-Elect.

Other officers include Perry Zeigler as Secretary, Doug Collins as Treasurer, and Isaac Walden as Sergeant-at-Arms. Jason Hendley will handle bulletins and emails, and both Bill Blount and Ryan Quick will coordinate club programs.

In addition, the club’s directors for the upcoming year include:

  • Gregg Vickers, Club Administration

  • Jaime Riggs, Membership and Public Relations

  • Mitchell Hill, Community Service

  • John Lane, Vocational Service

  • James Pope, Rotary Foundation

  • Russ Lanier, Music

  • Bob Olliff, Sunshine Report

The meeting was filled with celebration, gratitude, and excitement as members looked back on a successful year under Mathews and looked ahead to Benson’s vision for the year to come. Benson was joined by his family at the ceremony, including his parents, Dr. Bobby and Mrs. Darby Benson, and his wife, Dr. Anna Benson, showing strong support for his leadership role.

Rotarians were reminded of their commitment to service, with announcements about volunteer opportunities for Habitat for Humanity builds this summer and a foster care appreciation event coming up in September. With new energy and leadership in place, the club is ready to continue its tradition of service above self.

Congratulations to all the newly installed officers, and here's to another impactful year for the Rotary Club of Statesboro!
