A swift and decisive response from the Statesboro Fire Department, including their recently placed-in-service Truck One, prevented a potentially devastating apartment fire at the Copper Beech complex Sunday evening, May 11, 2025.
Bulloch County 911 received the call at 6:14 pm reporting a structure fire at the three-story apartment building located at 1400 Statesboro Place Circle. Statesboro Fire Department Engine Company Three arrived on the scene within a remarkable two minutes, immediately encountering heavy smoke emanating from the front of the building. Firefighters from Engine Three launched an aggressive attack, successfully extinguishing the blaze within minutes of the initial dispatch.

Statesboro Fire Department's Truck One ladder company was the second unit to arrive. This truck, a significant recent investment for the department, was only placed into service less than two weeks ago during a well-attended "push in" ceremony at Station One on April 28th, as previously reported by Grice Connect.
Tonight, the value of that investment was clearly demonstrated. Truck One is equipped with a 100-foot ladder deck, a feature that was prominently utilized at the scene. While the report doesn't detail the specific use of the ladder, its presence undoubtedly provided crucial capabilities for the firefighting efforts.
Statesboro Fire Engine Two and Bulloch County Fire Engine Three also responded to the scene to provide assistance.
Preliminary reports suggest the fire originated in a kitchen and was spreading rapidly. However, the prompt and aggressive tactics employed by the Statesboro firefighters successfully contained the flames, averting what could have escalated into a major incident affecting numerous residents.
Two apartments within the building sustained damage from fire, heat, smoke, and water. Firefighters remained on scene for over an hour after the initial knockdown to ensure all potential hot spots were fully extinguished.
Statesboro Police Officers and Bulloch County EMS also responded to the scene to provide support. Fortunately, all occupants of the building were able to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.

The Statesboro Fire Department will now conduct a routine investigation to determine the exact cause and origin of the fire. Tonight's rapid and effective response serves as a testament to the dedication and training of local firefighters, and highlights the immediate positive impact of the department's newest addition, Truck One.
