A Statesboro couple tied the knot at a local Waffle House on July 11, 2025, just days before the groom’s stationing— a video of the ceremony has since gone viral on TikTok.
For newlyweds John and Morgan Foster, Waffle House has always been more than just a favorite breakfast pit stop—It’s been a constant in their relationship, a late-night staple after long shifts and a place that always felt like home. So, when John Foster received news that he was being stationed in Texas, the couple decided to make do of their plan to get married in the place they spent many a night at.

“We kind of jokingly talked about it saying how crazy it would be to get married in a Waffle House,” said John Foster. “That’d be a real true American thing to do!”
The small ceremony, held in a Statesboro location with fewer than 20 guests, featured friends, family and, of course, the Waffle House staff and their amazing hashbrowns. While the event was intimate, the couple said they may hold a larger celebration in the future once timing allows.

Prior to the wedding day, John Foster had spoken to a couple staff members about potentially having the wedding there—however, on the day of, it was completely different staff. Despite their surprise, the staff pulled through to make the couple’s day special after John Foster let them know what time they’d be arriving, giving them a little time to prepare for the big moment.
What no one expected, though, was that a video taken by his brother would go viral on TikTok, racking up over 5.6 million views and counting.

“We weren’t expecting to become internet sensations or famous,” said John Foster. “We were just trying to have a little get-together with Waffle House.”
Now happily married and stationed in Texas, miles away from his favorite diner, John Foster encourages other couples to not feel confined when it comes to thinking outside of the box.
“It’s your special day,” said John Foster. “Don’t let anyone else take that from you, even if they sneer and make side comments. It’s not about them—it’s about you.”
