The walk will start this Friday, May 17 at 3:30pm at the Connection Church. The walk consists of two full laps around the bypass, and will end back at the Connection Church at 12pm on Saturday in time for the Fallen Law Enforcement Memorial Service, with guest speaker Dr. John Waters of First Baptist Church of Statesboro and the Bulloch County Sheriff's Honor Guard.
"Each year I have dedicated the flag that I carry to a branch of law enforcement," said Long. "This year it will go to the Blue Knights, the police motorcycle club."
Long encourages everyone to join the walk, at any time for any distance to show their support.
"I would be thrilled to have 5,000 walking to show our support for law enforcement," said Long.
This event is to honor law enforcement during National Law Enforcement Week.
The public is also invited to attend the Fallen Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Service, which will be held at 12pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Connection Church, 1342 Cawana Road, in Statesboro.
