Bulloch County and Statesboro Fire Departments responded to a yard fire that moved to a home on Friday, February 3, 2023.

Bulloch County 911 dispatched public safety agencies to the fire on New Castle Road near Sinkhole Road in Bulloch County at 2:19 PM.

According to Joe Carter, Bulloch County Prevention Officer, the near 40 MPH wind gusts took the fire from the yard to the home very quickly.  The home was a double wide manufactured home which is off the ground.  The fire was able to get under the home and rapidly moved through the home to the roof.

"This was a very difficult fire for our firefighters due to the high winds.  The wind really fueled the fire and made it a challenge to fight," said Carter.  "The firefighters did incredible work under very challenging conditions."

Unfortunately the home was significantly damaged and will probably be ruled a total loss.

The residents of the home have been displaced.

There were no injuries in the fire.

Georgia Forestry units responded to fight a woods fire caused by the yard fire as well.

Bulloch County Sheriff's Deputies and Bulloch County EMS also responded to assist.
