A home in the City of Statesboro, GA received significant damage from a fire on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
At 4:22 PM Bulloch County 911 dispatched Statesboro and Bulloch Fire Departments to a home fire in the 30 block of Carmel Drive in the City. Firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke as they left Station One on Grady Street which was over a mile from the home.

When the first engines arrived they reported heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the wooden structure. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack on the fire and completed an interior search of the home. There was no one in the home, but two dogs were removed from the yard of the home.
SFD's Battalion Chief requested additional engines and firefighters to fight the fire.
Firefighters had the fire under control and blacked out soon after beginning the fire attack. They remained on the scene for nearly two hours making sure hot spots were completely extinguished
There were no injuries reported from the fire.
The American Red Cross Disaster Assistance Team was requested to provide temporary assistance to the occupants.
Statesboro Police Officers responded to assist with traffic and crowd control.
Paramedics with Bulloch County EMS responded as a precaution.
Statesboro Fire Investigators will conduct a routine cause and origin investigation.
