Shopping for the person who has everything just got a little easier. The Statesboro Food Bank’s Stockings of Hope campaign is offering everyone the chance to give the gift of hope to someone who might otherwise go without food this December.
Through the campaign, Food Bank staff hope to spread joy, warmth, and nourishment across our community.
“Our client base has quadrupled; we are serving over 150 families per week,” says Food Bank Director Sheila Stewart-Leach.
She believes the difficult economic times, rising costs, and tragic circumstances have contributed to the drastic increase in clients served, in addition to their temporary location at 1545 Morgan Road in Statesboro being more centralized.
“Honor a loved one, remember a special moment, or support our community by making a meaningful donation to the Statesboro Food Bank,” says Leach.
A stocking is hung at the Food Bank with each donation, and the funds will be used to purchase food and holiday meals for members of the community.

They’ve made it easy to give a gift no matter whether you’re near or far –
- Donate Online: givebutter.com/stockingsofhope
- Text “STOCKING” to 53-555
- Mail a Check to Food Bank, Inc., PO Box 543, Statesboro, GA 30459
Right now, in addition to monetary donations, items they need the most are:
- Breakfast Foods – Cereal, Grits, Oatmeal
- Canned Fruit
- Pasta Sauce
- Trash Bags
- Egg Cartons
The Food Bank is located at 1545 Morgan Way in Statesboro and will continue to be based there while their new building is under construction (anticipated to open in fall 2024).
