A new local free market plans to meet the second Saturday of each month (weather permitting) in Statesboro. The first market is this Saturday, May 13, from 1-3pm in the parking lot outside 3 Beaus & A Belle consignment shop (next to Walker Pharmacy) on Northside Drive.
Participants are invited to bring any clean and usable items they would like to pass on to others, free of charge. These can include clothing, household goods, books, movies, toys, furniture, food, plants, arts and craft supplies, recyclable materials (for example, egg cartons for re-use or art projects), and more. Larger or heavier items may require pre-planning, so contact the email address below if you plan to bring those.
"Let’s meet and swap goodies that we no longer need! Keep it out of the soils and waters, reduce our expenses, reduce our earthly footprints, be more sustainable, [and] connect with the community," organizer Charly Kinship said. "Share some kindness, recipes, sustainability, skills, gifts -- or just bring your smile and come on, even if you have nothing else to share this month. You might find a new treasure to take home or something you really need."
Those participating in the market can either drop-off items at the start of the market or stay for the duration. The more participants, the better!
