Enjoy holiday events galore at the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library

The Statesboro-Bulloch County Library has lots of new events to engage patrons of every age! Here is a snapshot of what they are currently offering.

The Statesboro-Bulloch County Library offers programming for everyone and invites residents of all ages to stop by and stay a while. Ms. Cindy Hatchell, Manager of Youth and Family Services, explains the new opportunities that are bringing our community together.

“On Mondays we are really trying to have programs for our senior age group. The first Monday of the month we have a senior craft at 10:00 AM, the second Monday we have a senior social hour where they just come and socialize, we have games and coffee and different things,” Hatchell says, “and then the third Monday we have a Senior Matinee, and I know the one for December is ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.”

They also have a senior Bingo event that usually takes place on the third Friday of every month. The library has also instituted a tech help session that can be personalized to user needs.

“We have tech help and support; that’s on Mondays and Wednesdays. They just call, schedule an appointment, and we’ll work one-on-one with them on whatever their needs might be.”

Topics have ranged from everything from sending an email navigating Excel and Google Docs. Some patrons have carved out time to learn how to better understand their cell phones.

“We have, for the kids ages 6-11, our graphic novel book club. The kids get a free book this month and this month we’re reading Happy Narwhalidays by Ben Clanton. We have a kids Paint and Sip this month, we have a Teens Paint and Sip.”

“We have a Movement and Music Story Time one Saturday a month and we also have a Family Game Night on the 28th of December.”

“Chess & Pizza,” which usually occurs on the fourth Wednesday of every month, will take a break for the holiday season but will return in January at 6:00 PM.

Additional events include genealogy programs, teen craft nights, adult book clubs, trivia games, and scavenger hunts. Stop by in December for fun for the entire family!
