The Statesboro Food Bank is in need of snacks, fruit, and juice to supplement breakfast and lunches during Spring Break.

With Spring Break upon us, the Statesboro Food Bank is in special need of items for kids out of school for the week.

Bulloch Schools' Spring Break brings special challenges for parents and students and the agencies who help, like the Boys and Girls Club. Your Food Bank supplements breakfast and lunches.

The food bank is currently asking for our community's help with the following items:

  • Healthy snacks
  • Child size cookie bags
  • Cereals
  • Fruit and fruit cups
  • Juice boxes

They are also in need of donations for milk, a much needed resource for their families that Second Harvest cannot provide. You can donate milk money for the food bank by mailing a check to them at PO Box 543, Statesboro, GA 30459, or by texting "hungerhurts" to 53555 and following the prompts. You can make a one-time or recurring donation.

The food bank also gets lots of questions about the kinds of things they ALWAYS need. Here's what you can help them with:

  • Eggs (And egg cartons)
  • Cereal (Boxes and boxes of cereal! Any type but healthier/low sugar is better!)
  • Canned corn
  • Noodles (Any kind!)

You can drop off food donations at the Food Bank, located at 1547 Morgan Way in Statesboro, just off the bypass at 301N near Cork's Popcorn. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm and closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

If you don't want to shop and stop by to donate, you can also make a monetary donation for these items. For example, $25.00 buys 10 dozen eggs, enough for ten families in a week. Again, text "hungerhurts" to 53555 and follow prompts. You can make a one-time or recurring donation.

For those in need, the food pantry is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11am to 3pm, by appointment only. The food bank kindly requests that you do not drop in to the pantry.
