City of Statesboro to host second Strategic Plan meeting next week

The City of Statesboro is continuing its community-driven effort to update its Strategic Plan with a second stakeholder meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, at 6:00 p.m. at Statesboro First United Methodist Church.

The City of Statesboro hosted the first stakeholder meeting for the Statesboro Strategic Plan on April 23 and is now preparing for the second meeting, scheduled for next Wednesday, May 21, at 6:00 p.m. at the Statesboro First United Methodist Church, located at 101 S Main Street, Statesboro.

The City of Statesboro has partnered with the Coastal Regional Commission to update its Strategic Plan. Unlike a Comprehensive Plan, which is a guiding tool for zoning and development processes over an extended term, the Strategic Plan is a specific tool that guides major projects and priorities in the near term. The City completed its last Strategic Plan in 2018 and has made substantial progress in accomplishing the goals set in that plan. The updated 2025 – 2030 plan will create a roadmap for the next five years.

"The City's Strategic Plan is an essential document crafted through community input,” says Kathy Field, Statesboro’s Director of Planning & Development. “The plan is intended to address local needs in the near term by outlining top priorities for the community and providing supporting strategies for the future.”

The City of Statesboro is asking for continued participation from the community. Residents are encouraged to attend the next stakeholder meeting and share their insights. To learn more, visit www.statesboroga.gov/strategicplan.
