Candler County, GA—A devastating fire early Saturday morning, November 30, 2024, destroyed a home in the Wildflower Circle neighborhood off Lake Church Road near Metter, GA. Thankfully, the family living in the home—a mother and her daughter—escaped unharmed.

Bulloch County 911, which also handles emergency dispatch for Candler and Evans counties, alerted the Metter Fire Department to the blaze around 2:00 a.m. Metter Fire Chief Jason Douglas reported that the call described the fire as fully involved.

When firefighters arrived, they confirmed the home was completely engulfed in flames. Crews battled the fire for several hours, working through the early morning hours to extinguish the blaze. Firefighters returned after daylight to conduct a routine investigation into the fire's cause and origin.

While the home and a vehicle is a total loss, the family is safe. Chief Douglas said that at this time, no specific requests for assistance have been made. However, he suggested that those wishing to support the family can reach out to The Bridge, an outreach center in Candler County that can help facilitate donations and aid.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
