Second-grade students at Stilson Elementary School had a wonderful experience as they created a Perfectly Perfect Pollinator Garden thanks to both a grant from the Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education and skilled volunteers from the Brooklet Garden Club and the Ogeechee River Daylily Club.

The Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education was created in 2006 by local leaders and the Bulloch County Board of Education to provide a way for the community to further invest in public education and provide local funding for innovative projects. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees which meets monthly to manage its body of work.

Since 2006, the Foundation has funded more than 210 innovative teacher grants totaling nearly $260,000 to fund learning experiences for Bulloch County children. Applications for this year's round of grants are now available! The opportunity to apply for an Innovation Grant is open to all Bulloch County School System teachers, media specialists, counselors, or any combination of teams within one school setting or among schools.

Twenty grants will be awarded all in the Fall of 2023, ranging from $1,000-$1,500, for a total of $30,000. The Foundation will not be awarding any grants in the Spring. Please apply now! The grant committee will accept grants through August 25, 2023. Grants will be awarded at the Bulloch County Board of Education Meeting on September 7, 2023.

Innovation Grants will be judged and scored based on the published rubric. Applicants must agree to implement the approved grant initiative and expend all awarded funds prior to May 1, 2023.
