After nearly five decades of dedication to the insurance industry, Andy Dyches is retiring from Georgia Farm Bureau, bringing to a close a career defined by integrity, leadership, and a deep commitment to helping others.

Prior to his career, Dyches graduated from Southeast Bulloch High School and joined the Army.

Dyches began his career in insurance in 1976 out of necessity, but it quickly became a calling. He got his start with United Insurance Company of America and later spent 10 years with Life of Georgia, where he distinguished himself by qualifying for the company’s President’s Club three times and earning several incentive trips. During this time, he also earned his LUTCF designation through the Life Underwriters Training Council, later teaching LUTCF courses and serving two terms as president of the Life Underwriters Association.

“When Life of Georgia was sold, I applied and was hired by Don Martin in 2005 with Georgia Farm Bureau,” he said. “It was a perfect fit, I believe God led me here.”

Throughout his career, Dyches was known not only for his professional excellence, but also for his moral compass. “I learned quickly that there are some insurance agents who are not reputable,” he said. “I decided early in my career that I would never lie to a client to get their business. I always wanted to help people, and this business gave me a way to do that.”

A man of strong faith, Dyches attends New Hope Global Methodist Church. He credits his personal and professional journey to divine guidance and the support of his family.

In 1974, he met the love of his life, Claire, and the two were married on June 1, 1975. “This has been the best 50 years of my life,” he said. Together they have two children — Caren Ann Nunnally (married to Corey), and Jason Dyches (engaged to Christie Sconyers) — and six grandchildren: Benjamin Thomas Nunnally, 18; Chelsea Elizabeth Nunnally, 15; Kyra Brooke Dyches, 15; Emma Jane Dyches, 3; Skye Montana Watznauer, 6; and Magnolia Ellen Watznauer, 6. They also consider Shawntez D’Malique Everett, 29, their cherished grandson-in-love.

As he steps away from his role, Dyches said what he will miss most is the daily interaction with coworkers and clients. “I’m going to miss all of them very much,” he said.

The Bulloch County Farm Bureau is going to hold a proper send off for Andy with a Drop-in Farewell on May 29th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Bulloch County Farm Bureau Office. For client and colleagues that want to attend Andy's retirement ceremony, they can email Jil L. Trower at [email protected] to RSVP by May 15th.
