17 year old dies from Sunday shooting in Bulloch County

A Bulloch County teenager has died after being shot on Sunday, April 16th in Bulloch County. This is the second teenager to die from one of six shootings in Statesboro and Bulloch County in less than a week.

Kelsey Amanda McDuffie a 17 year old from Bulloch County has died.

During the early morning hours of Sunday, April 16, 2023, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office received a call from 911 Central dispatch that a subject had been shot and was being transported to the East Georgia Regional Medical Center by a “private vehicle”.

Deputies and Investigators responded to the Emergency Room area of East Georgia Hospital in attempts to gain further information about this incident.

Upon arrival it was found out that a 17 year old female identified as Kelsey Amanda McDuffie had sustained a gunshot wound to the rear of her head.

After finding out that the incident occurred at 1342 Arthur Nuburn Jr. road in Bulloch County, Deputies were dispatched to that location.

Upon arrival deputies found out that an 18 year old male on the scene identified as Adan Allen Keelin also sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Keelin was showing McDuffie how to disassemble and reassemble a 9mm semi-auto handgun.

During this activity, the handgun discharged, while in the hands of Keelin. The bullet traveled through Keelin's left hand and struck McDuffie in the rear of her head. Keelin was transported to East Georgia Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.

McDuffie was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah for surgery and has since succumbed to her injuries.

Not related to the Shuga Shack Shooting

Even though this occurred at approximately the same time as the Shuga Shack shooting involving SHS students attending an after prom party, it is not connected.

Six shootings in one week which have killed two teenagers

There have been six shootings reported in Statesboro and Bulloch County in the past week. Two teenagers have died as results of these shootings. Below are stories from each of the shootings.
