Georgia shattered its record for daily increases in COVID-19 deaths, reporting 137 new fatalities Tuesday. That’s 45 deaths higher than the previous daily record of 92, reported Friday.

Evans reported two deaths today. A 62 year old, white male with comorbidity and a 76 year old African American male with comorbidity.

Karen Lovett, RN, nurse in Same Day Surgery at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, was recently awarded the hospital’s DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Karen began her nursing career at EGRMC in 1998.

Statesboro City Council, at Tuesday mornings council meeting, approved renaming Lester Road from Northside Drive East to East Main Street to Coach Lee Hill Boulevard. This is the street that Statesboro High School is located on.
