Statesboro Mayor Jonathan McCollar, Bulloch County Commission Chairman Roy Thompson and Bulloch County Public Safety and EMA Director Ted Wynn have announced a joint press conference Tuesday.
The City of Statesboro will host the 11 AM press conference on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, to provide an update on the recent increase in positive COVID-19 cases in Bulloch County. The purpose of the conference is to address community concerns and provide media with known facts.
The conference will include remarks from Statesboro Mayor McCollar, Chairman Thompson and Director Wynn. Due to COVID-19, restrictions space will be prioritized for the media.

As of Monday, August 31, 2020, Bulloch County had a cumulative COVID-19 positive case rate of 2,003. To date, 21 Bulloch County residents have died from COVID-19. Over this past weekend, the county saw an increase of 309 new cases of COVID-19 in just 72 hours.
On Sunday, The New York Times ranked the City of Statesboro as number 6 in the nation for the greatest number of new cases relative to population.
