This summer at the Emma Kelly Theater, feel the warm embrace of family and delight from captivating stories of a time long ago. On July 18th, the 9x Tony Award-winning musical theater play, “Fiddler on the Roof,” premieres live in the Emma Kelly Theater with a full soundtrack of iconic songs and a rich story of humor, heart, and honesty.
This classic story, set in the little village of Anatevka, Russia, follows Tevye, a hard-working, pious dairyman and proud father to five spirited daughters. With the help of a tight-knit Jewish community and his strong sense of family, Tevye tries earnestly to protect his growing daughters and instill in them the traditional values he was raised with in the face of changing social mores and the frightening growth of anti-semitism in Czarist Russia.
This heartwarming tale is rich in historical and ethnic detail and cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality, and religion to universally connect audiences. Performed by a stellar cast of dedicated local actors and performers, beloved songs like “Sunrise, Sunset,” "If I Were a Rich Man," and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker" are perfectly woven throughtout the story, creating an musical experience that will leave audiences cheering and crying tears of laughter, joy, and sadness.
Featuring Jamey Saunders as Tevye and a stacked cast list of talented actors, this live theater production is one you don’t want to miss!
