From August 1-23, Bulloch County invites nominations for gifted services among second to eighth graders who are NEW to the district, while also offering online tools to foster students' higher-order thinking and talent development through engaging activities and resources.

The Georgia RESA Network launched its Let's Read Georgia Literacy Coaches’ Training event, uniting educators, legislators, and stakeholders to kick off a statewide literacy initiative aimed at enhancing educational outcomes through targeted teacher support and training.

East Georgia State College (EGSC) hosted its inaugural Bobcat Summer Leadership Program this year, a four-week journey aimed at helping first-time full-time freshmen transition smoothly from high school to college.

Georgia students demonstrated significant progress on the 2023-24 Georgia Milestones assessments, with scores increasing or holding steady on 10 of 13 tests in ELA, science, and social studies. Math scores, updated to reflect the new K-12 Mathematics Standards, will be released later this fall.

Head Start programs in an eleven-county area, including Bulloch County, will not be opening August 1, 2024. Parents are encouraged to seek alternatives until a new grantee is established.

Bulloch County Schools kicked off the new academic year by welcoming nearly 300 new employees with a western-themed orientation event. The day included essential training sessions, a tradeshow, and a catered lunch to ensure the new staff felt prepared and valued as they gear up for the start of the school year. Of the new hires, 84 are classroom teachers.
