Regional Education Summit to take place in Bulloch County on Aug. 16

The community-wide event is for anyone interested in increasing education outcomes, prosperity, and quality of life in Bulloch County.

A Regional Education Summit will be held in Bulloch County on Wednesday, Aug. 16, beginning at 8 a.m., in the Oak Room of the Jack Hill Building on Ogeechee Technical College's campus, located at 20 Joe Kennedy Blvd., in Statesboro.

The free event is sponsored by the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, Ogeechee Technical College, Bulloch County Schools, and the Statesboro-Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce. The community-wide event is for anyone interested in increasing education outcomes, prosperity and quality of life in Bulloch County. 

We will explore solutions for transforming the economic and workforce landscape through cost-effective, attainable, and impactful strategies to improve literacy and educational attainment. Come learn the data, consider the strategies, and help make a plan to strengthen Bulloch County.

The agenda includes:

  • Breakfast
  • Presentation by the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, "Economics of Education" (new) 
  • Community discussion and strategy session
  • Panel discussion of local leaders including business and education leaders and State Senator Billy Hickman, who is chairman of the Senate Committee on Higher Education, and he serves on the Georgia Council on Literacy
