Georgia Southern women’s basketball player #3 Terren Ward led the team to 99-86 victory, winning their first Sun Belt conference game of the season, in their New Year's Eve game against Arkansas State. Ward scored 40 points in the game, beating alumna Regina Days-Bryan's record. Days-Bryan was honorary coach at the game.

Growing up in the Ward household, Terren’s family always played basketball. She wasn’t a fan at first, but as she continued to blossom, she began to fall in love with the sport. Her motivation for basketball came from watching her older sister do amazing things on the court, and she followed in her footsteps.

When asked about her experience being a Georgia Southern athlete, Ward shared, It’s great. Your teammates turn into family, and that's amazing to me.”

Ward’s mindset for the game was to win and be a team player, not break records. But through her skill and determination, she became the third Georgia Southern women’s basketball player ever to score 40 points in a game.

Days-Bryan presented her with the game ball with gladness, as she reminisced about her days as a Georgia Southern women’s basketball player. She shared that she felt like a cheerleader that night and was in amazement of Ward’s passion for the sport.

Records are made to be broken, and it was exciting to see another Lady Eagle go in the record books. Terren was amazing. To give her the game ball made me feel so proud.

Ward felt that pride and said she knew Days-Bryan was happy for her.

Terren Ward remains a humble player and gives thanks to her mother, Terah Ward, for being there for her every step of the way. Her future plans after college are to play in the WNBA.

Congratulations Terren, and go EAGLES!
