String musicians James Pittman and Joe Nelson performed Georgia String bands Tunes & Songs of the 1920's at the monthly meeting of the Bulloch County Historical Society (BCHS) Monday, September 26, 2022.

Over 90 members attended the meeting held at Pittman Park United Methodist Church. A delicious bbq lunch was catered by Annette McCray with A Touch of Class Catering.

Joe and James have played traditional music together for over 25 years. During the program they shared little known facts about musicians, songs and tunes of the past.

Joe has lived in Savannah all of his life and been involved in music since his teens. He is a multi instrumentalist.

James has lived in Statesboro since 2001, he is retired and comes from a family where music was always present whether it was hymns or his father's favorite Hank Williams They both enjoy history and music.

The performance featured Georgia artist who recorded in the 1920's.

The next BCHS program will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022. The program will be on the history of the Bulloch County Courthouse. It will be presented by local attorney and BCHS board member Matt Hube.
