Curtis Gay, founder and coordinator of the 20th annual Santa's Toy Ride which was held Saturday, November 19, 2022, was thrilled with the response from the riders and the community. The ride collected over $5,000 in toys and funds that will help Fostering Bulloch 7th Mile Farm and Hope Chest meet the needs of children this Christmas.
106 motorcycles came roaring through downtown Statesboro a little after noon for the toy ride on Saturday escorting a V.I.P., Santa Claus. The motorcycles were escorted by Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies on motorcycles and in vehicles. Statesboro Police officers assisted with traffic control at the intersections to help get them through town safely.
Watch the motorcycles roar through downtown
Gay told Grice Connect that this was one of the biggest rides in terms of number of motorcycles participating, toys collected and funds raised. But what he was most excited about was the number of children waiting for Santa to arrive at the Harville House Barn which is where the toy ride ended.
The riders enjoyed a scenic ride through Bulloch County before they met up with Santa Claus in Statesboro to escort him through town.
Gay gave special thanks to Sheriff Noel Brown and Bobby Durden with the Bulloch Sheriff's Office and the Statesboro Police Department for helping with traffic control for the ride. He also sent thanks out to all the riders who participated and volunteers who made the event one of the best ever.
Of course a special thanks to Santa Claus for making this special early visit to Statesboro, Georgia.
