Brooklet resident and loyal Grice Connect fan Allison Puzder is the winner of the $250 Publix gift card giveaway by Grice Connect.
Grice Connect began giving cool prizes to our followers this year to thank them for following and to encourage them to introduce Grice Connect to their family and friends.
We have given away tickets to the Statesboro Cole Swindell concert, tickets and ride passes to the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair and VIP tickets to Safe Haven's Dancing with the Statesboro Stars.
We ended the year with a Publix giveaway. Each of the winners of the giveaways have been thrilled. None more however than Allison who is a single mom to three boys ages 19, 14 and 12.
Mom of three boys
Allison and her husband Joel relocated to Brooklet in 2018 when Joel accepted a job with Colonial Oil as a diesel mechanic. Allision accepted a position in the transportation department of Bulloch County Schools.
Joel loved his job and encouraged Allison to take a less demanding position that would allow her to spend more time with their three sons. The boys attend Southeast Bulloch Middle and High School.
Allison applied for and was hired as the Technology Liaison at Southeast Bulloch Middle School. Allisions experience to that point had been as an administrative assistant. This was a new challenge for her. She began the position in July of 2021. The boys went back to school on August 2, 2021.
On Friday, August 6, 2021 her husband Joel was diagnosed with COVID. He was 51 and healthy. On August 9th, Allison called an ambulance to take Joel to EGRMC as he had gotten worse. He spent the night at the hospital and came home the next day with oxygen. The next day he had gotten much worse, so Allison drove him to the EGRMC ER. He was admitted and hospitalized for ten days before he was placed on the vent. On September 8th they made the decision to remove him from the vent. In just four weeks from being diagnosed with COVID her vibrant, hardworking, healthy husband was dead.
"I have never won anything before. I entered once after a friend shared it with me," said Allison Puzder. "This Publix gift card could not have come at a more perfect time. I never thought my life would be like this at this age. But that is the card I drew and we are getting through. I have God and family and that is about all I need."
Allison's parents moved up to Brooklet six months after her family moved there. They now live a half of a mile from me. In July her sister moved three doors down from her mom. "So I now have my sister, brother-n-law and my nephew so my son's have a cousin close. They are all such a blessing to me!" said Allison Puzder. "I want to thank Grice Connect for this gift certificate. Grice Connect is the ONLY news I read!"
