Believers Church of Statesboro stepped up their "Serve the Boro" intentional acts of kindness Saturday morning, March 23, 2024 by purchasing down gas at Po Jo's, 21201 US-80 East location from 10:00 AM till 1:00 PM.
Bulloch County citizens were surprised and overwhelmed by the churches generosity. They purchased down the price of regular gasoline to $1.89 per gallon cash and $1.99 credit. No strings attached.
Scott Moore, Believers Church of Statesboro Lead Pastor confirmed that the church bought down the price of gas per gallon for 3,908 gallons from over $3.00 per gallon to under $2.00
Believers performs these random act of kindness events, like this gas buy down, to share God's love with intentional acts of kindness during the four weeks leading up to Easter Sunday. Other events included a free bread and soda giveaway and a totally free car wash.
Grice Connect interviewed Believer's Church outreach pastor, Mike Oglesby this morning at the gas buy down.
"This is a practical way of showing God's love, we are out here blessing God's community by buying gas down. Going into the community to share God's love and random acts of kindness with no strings attached is what we love to do," said Pastor Mike Oglesby. "A lot of people view the church as an organization that always has their hand out. We want to counter that by being a blessing to our community in every way possible. No sermons at the gas pumps, however we are here for you if you want us to pray blessings on you and of course we would love for you to visit Believers if you do not have a home church."
Pastor Oglesby invites the community to visit Believers Statesboro:
- Palm Sunday, March 24th- "Wonderous Cross" 9 & 11 AM (musical and dramatic presentation)
- *11 AM service followed by an egg hunt for all kids up to 6th graders*
- Good Friday, March 29th - "Wonderous Cross" 6:30 PM (musical and dramatic presentation)
- Easter Sunday, March 31st - New series starts "Living the Resurrected Life" - Two identical services at 9 & 11 AM
