Book nooks pop up at local Statesboro businesses

Georgia Power partners with Bulloch Literacy Council team up for donations

Georgia Power’s Statesboro Citizens Chapter, a group of local employee volunteers, is proud to support the Bulloch County Literacy Council's Book Nook Initiative by helping to assemble, deliver and set up "book nooks" at local businesses

The Bulloch County Literacy Council is a community collaborative of educators, literacy advocates and organizations, business and civic organization leaders, and community volunteers. Its purpose is to sustain a community collaborative that works to increase Kindergarten readiness for students from birth through Pre-Kindergarten and to support the improvement of literacy levels for all children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

“We know this is going to make a huge difference in Statesboro and to the children and the families that will be impacted by these books,” said Dennis Reddick, Statesboro’s volunteer chapter president. “We can’t wait to see the Book Nook project continue to grow and the Bulloch County Literacy Council's mission continue to flourish.”

The donated Book Nooks were placed at Uncle Shugs Bar-B-Q Place, Hearts and Hands Clinic, and Shalom Hair Salon.
