Tropical Storm Michael 5am update

From Ted Wynn – Bulloch EMA:

Winds started getting strong around 1:30am as Michael made its presence known to Bulloch County.  Wind gusts to 45 mph were experienced at the EOC on 301 north.   Law enforcement are evaluating roads for trees and at 4 am, 15 roads had been reported as having trees blocking them.

Some of these have been cleared.    There will be more blocked roads discovered as daylight comes especially on dirt roads.

Power outages for EMC total 5637 for Bulloch County at 4am and Georgia power reports around 2770 without power in Bulloch.

Do not call 911 to report and outage.  Rainfall overnight has not been an issue.

Currently Tropical Storm Michael is centered just north of us with winds still at 50 mph.  Movement is to the NE at 21 mph.

If possible please remain in place this morning and allow roads crews, law enforcement, and power companies the opportunity to perform damage assessments and begin recovery.   Do not drive over downed power lines.

Conditions will improve as the day goes by.
