Steve and Sally Minton, owners of BoroTakeOut, are launching Fuel the Fight – Gift Cards for Heroes program as a way to help local businesses and Healthcare and Public Safety Workers get through this very hard time. Their company, BoroTakeOut, is well known for their delivery service for popular local restaurants in the Boro. They have a call center in downtown Statesboro and relationships with many restaurants and businesses in Statesboro, so it is only natural that they step up and help in any way possible.
Bulloch VOAD and Grice Connect has had many individuals and businesses reaching out wanting to help local businesses and purchase meals for healthcare and public safety workers who are on the front line of the COVID-19 fight. With the restrictions on businesses and social distancing, they were struggling with a safe way to match donors to businesses and healthcare workers with the least amount of human contact as possible. That is when a group of business leaders came together to help figure out the best way forward. They wanted a way to help businesses, especially restaurants, who are short staffed without overwhelming them by having a bunch of phone calls for individual gift card purchases. With this in mind, they reached out to BoroTakeOut since they have all of the infrastructure in place to see if they would take the lead on this project. They jumped at the idea to help.

BoroTakeOut is coordinating this effort for free. It will not cost businesses anything to participate. They will handle the transactions, purchase the gift cards from the restaurants and then distribute them to our heroes on the front lines of this COVID-19 fight.
