Eagle Nation is more than Georgia Southern University’s students and alumni, faculty and staff, learning centers and campuses. It also encompasses the communities we serve and the friends and partners with whom we create a better Southeast Georgia.

"This isn't just about the funds we raise; it's about coming together as a community to affirm our commitment to education and excellence,” said Georgia Southern University President Kyle Marrero. “Every gift, no matter its size, contributes to a brighter future for our students and reinforces our mission to nurture leaders who are ready to make a difference."

The funds raised during "Only for Southern" will support a wide range of student initiatives, including scholarships, research opportunities and enhancements to campus life. Georgia Southern has identified key areas where the impact of donations can be most felt, including empowering student success, advancing teaching and public impact research, enriching campus and community vibrancy, and elevating holistic student experiences.

To make this event a success, Georgia Southern is rallying its community through various means, including social media campaigns, email outreach, and the hashtag #GiveLikeGus. The University has also outlined strategies for ambassadors of the event to share their stories and inspire others to contribute, challenging them to support the University.

"Social media is a powerful tool that connects us across distances, and it's where our stories come to life and inspire others,” said Marrero. “As we approach 'Only for Southern,' I urge every Eagle to take to their social media platforms to share their own Georgia Southern story. Tell us why you give, what Georgia Southern means to you, and how your experiences have shaped who you are today. Your story could be the spark that motivates another to give, creating a ripple effect of generosity and impact. Your involvement is crucial to our success.”

"Only for Southern" is a significant milestone for Georgia Southern University, marking its first Day of Giving in history. This event seeks to raise funds and strengthen the bonds within the larger Georgia Southern community, celebrating our shared commitment to making a difference in students' lives. Join Eagle Nation for our Day of Giving at noon on March 26 until noon on March 27.
