Watson-Trent Earns All-America Honors

Watson-Trent, who led the Eagles with 122 tackles, including 13.0 for loss and 3.5 sacks, was named a first-team all-conference by the Sun Belt earlier this month. He becomes the 91st player in Georgia Southern football history to earn All-America honors.

Georgia Southern junior linebacker Marques Watson-Trent has been named an honorable mention All-American by Phil Steele Magazine, as announced Tuesday by the publication. Ten players also earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors.

Watson-Trent, who led the Eagles with 122 tackles, including 13.0 for loss and 3.5 sacks, was named a first-team all-conference by the Sun Belt earlier this month. He becomes the 91st player in Georgia Southern football history to earn All-America honors. The Pittsburgh native also posted two interceptions, two pass breakups, two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble to lead the defense.

In addition to Watson-Trent, also earning first-team all-conference accolades from Phil Steele was sixth-year offensive lineman Khalil Crowder. Earning second-team honors was receiver Khaleb Hood. Offensive tackle Rasheed Miller and cornerback Shemar Bartholomew earned spots on the third team and running back Jalen White, tight end Jjay Mcafee, defensive end Isaac Walker, defensive tackle Justin Rhodes and kicker Michael Lantz were placed on the fourth team.
