Troy Downs Georgia Southern Baseball, 16-5

TROY, Ala. – Troy was able to take a Sun Belt Conference series over the Georgia Southern baseball team with a 16-5 victory on Saturday afternoon at Riddle-Pace Field.
 
Neither team got on the board for nearly the first full three frames, but Troy (33-13, 13-10 SBC) took a 4-0 lead at the end of the third frame. Georgia Southern (23-23, 13-10) cut into the lead with an RBI-groundout by Kyler Hultgren in the top of the fourth inning, but the Trojans responded with three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Georgia Southern cut into the lead in the top of the sixth inning with two runs, a Jarrett Brown bases-loaded walk and a Noah Ledford fielder's choice. Troy responded with eight runs between the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings. Georgia Southern grabbed two in the top of the eighth inning from a Brown two-RBI single. The scoring concluded with one more RBI-single for the Trojans to give Troy the 16-5 win.
