Southern's Carlos Curry signs pro deal in China

Curry joins the professional ranks after spending the last three seasons as an Eagle. He appeared in 70 games, starting 37, averaging 4.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and shooting 53.6 percent from the field.

Men's basketball center Carlos Curry has inked a professional deal with the Ningbo Rockets of the CBA, the team announced last week.

Curry joins the professional ranks after spending the last three seasons as an Eagle. He appeared in 70 games, starting 37, averaging 4.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and shooting 53.6 percent from the field.

This season, he appeared in 11 games with nine starts, averaging 2.9 ppg and 2.8 rpg, shooting 38.7 percent from the field. In his last appearance, he scored eight points and grabbed three rebounds in the win against Southern Miss.

Last season, Curry had one of the best games over the last 15 years, scoring 30 points on 13-15 shooting and grabbing 15 rebounds against Oglethorpe. The Game Score of 31.6 was the highest for any Eagle since before the 2010-11 season.

Curry, an Albany, Ga. native, came to the Eagles after one season at Northwest Mississippi Community College and two at Ole Miss.
