Georgia Southern men's basketball closed its non-conference road swing with a 74-56 loss at the hands of #12 Tennessee on Tuesday night.

The Eagles (0-10) fell behind 10-0 at the first media timeout, and the Volunteers (7-3) never looked back as they led from wire-to-wire.

"Tennessee can really clamp you defensively, they've done it to a lot of teams and they did it to us tonight," head coach Charlie Henry said. "I would have liked to hold them in check more offensively, but when you give up 49 points in the first half, you're just not going to give yourself much of a chance to win."

The first field goal the Eagles recorded was on a Jamar Franklin three-pointer at 14:41. The Volunteers continued to run away with it as they played strong on the defensive side. By the end of the half, the Eagles were down by 28, shooting just 16.7 percent from the field.

Things started to turn a little bit for the Eagles in the second frame. They shot better and got some turnovers, and a Derrick Harris Jr. three-pointer made it a 13-point deficit with seven minutes remaining. Harris exploded for 13 points off the bench in the second.

GS made just one field goal in the remaining seven minutes, falling 74-56 in Knoxville.

The Eagles improved to 27.1 percent shooting after the tough first half and were committed on the offensive glass, recording 19 offensive rebounds.

Harris' 13 were a team-high, and Cam Bryant notched seven points and seven rebounds, including five offensive boards. Nate Brafford put himself on double-double watch, grabbing a career-best nine rebounds to go along with six points.

The Eagles return home for a matchup with UNC Wilmington on Saturday.
