Georgia Southern women’s golf places 13th at Collegiate Classic

Inclement weather wiped out the final round of the 51st playing of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Sunday where the Georgia Southern (GS) women's golf team finished 13th.

Haley Yerxa shot 73-77 to lead the Eagles, and her 73 led GS in the first round. Abby Newton led the Eagles with a 74 in the second round.

GS team scores include:

  • Abby Newton – 79-74=153 (+9), T58

The tenth-ranked Auburn won the two-round tournament, capturing the team title. The field featured nine teams in the top-50 in the country and three in the top-10, according to Golfstat.

Next up, the Eagles cap the regular season by competing in the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate, hosted by Appalachian State at Mimosa Hills Golf Club in Morganton, North Carolina on April 3 and 4.
