Mr. Wilton Douglas “Doug” Stubbs, Jr., 89, of Sylvania passed away at his son’s home in North Carolina on July 15, 2024.
Doug was born on January 18, 1935 in Statesboro, GA. He attended Berry College, served as a Sergeant in the United States Army, and retired from Rostra Manufacturing Company as a sales manager. Doug was a son of the late Wilton Douglas Stubbs, Sr. and Mamie Lou Oliver.
He is preceded in death by his wife of forty-four years, Faye Matthews Stubbs, and a sister Pat Middleton.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Wilton D. (Michelle) Stubbs, III, of Sylvania, Robert M. (Millie) Stubbs, of Ashville, NC, Richard A. (Julie) Stubbs, of Brevard, NC; grandchildren, R. Ashley (Kelsy) Stubbs, of St. Simons Island, GA, Anna Ruby Stubbs (Luke) Gragg of Ashville, NC, Isaiah Stubbs, Abram Stubbs, and Ezra Stubbs, all of Brevard, NC; great-grandchildren, Wilton D. Stubbs, IV, of St. Simons Island, and Tucker Gragg of Ashville.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday July 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Joiner Anderson Screven with Rev. Roland Dann officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the First United Methodist Church of Sylvania, P.O. Box 258 Sylvania, GA 30467, or to the First Christian Church of Sylvania, 306 Frontage Road Sylvania, GA 30467.
