Troy Alvin Hendrix, Sr., age 79, of Statesboro, Georgia, passed away on March 1, 2024, after a short stay at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center.

He was born on October 24, 1944, to the late Tom Hendrix and Alma Parrish. He was proceeded in death by his father, mother, stepfather Al Parrish, father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Myrtle Shearer, sister-in-law Jackie Hendrix, brothers-in-law Henry Marle, William “Billy” Shearer and Buddy Johns.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Margerat “Peggy” Hendrix, brothers, Ronny and Ricky Hendrix (Mona), sister Gail Crowley (Tom), sisters-in-law, Jackie Marle and Joyce Johns. He is survived by his children, Jody Upchurch (John), Troy Hendrix, Jr. (Catherine), Jennifer Greene (Matt), grandchildren, Austin Hendrix, Nicholas Upchurch (Avery), Taylor Upchurch, Cate McCollum (Drew), and Alison Greene.

Troy Sr. was a native of Statesboro, Georgia, and although he lived in other places during his lifetime his heart was always in Bulloch County. He dearly loved his family, hunting, fishing, cooking for family and friends, gardening and working in his yard. He introduced his love of outdoor activities to his children and grandchildren at an early age, sharing a respect and love for hunting and fishing. Troy Sr. instilled in his children and grandchildren a strong sense of work ethic. His top priority was to be a good provider for his family. He is loved and will be missed by family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Riverview Memorial Park Cemetery, 3715 Azalea Drive, North Charleston, SC on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
