20241205-terry-dixon

October 10, 1950 - December 4, 2024

Mr. Terry Collins Dixon, Sr., 74, of Sylvania, GA, passed away at his home on Wednesday December 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Terry was born on October 10, 1950, in Savannah, GA. He was drafted and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He began carpentry work in his 20s at Plant Vogtle and was a member Carpenters Local Union 283 in Augusta, GA, and ran his own construction business. Terry was master carpenter and a “legend” in his own right. There are many homes and carpentry works today in Screven County and beyond that he either built or worked on, and he could build anything without using a plan. He enjoyed spending time going hunting, playing golf, tending to his land, and restoring vehicles, Terry was a true country fella. He was a jack of all trades, and began many things just to see if he could master them, and he always succeeded.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cleve Collins Dixon, Sr., and Betty Jean Dixon Lewis, as well as two brothers, Cleve “Junior” Dixon, and Chuck Dixon.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Dixon, son, Collins Dixon, Jr., stepdaughter, Angie Howard, grandchildren, Olivia Dixon, and Bryson Sullivan Dixon, siblings, Janice (BoJohn) Mitchell, Sharon (Steve) Raby, Mike (Amy) Dixon, Melissa (Frank) Beasley, and Michelle (Jason) Clees.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jeane Sturdivant officiating.
