Stephen Edmond “Steve” Wheeler’s time here with us came to an end on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Steve was a native of Bulloch County and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred O. Wheeler of Statesboro. He graduated from Southeast Bulloch High School in Brooklet and was a retired mechanic. Steve, known for his skills as a mechanic and his willingness to help others, would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it…..but not his shoes because he seldom wore any. He enjoyed fishing and going to Williams Landing. Steve was a loving brother, father and granddaddy and will be missed by many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred O. Wheeler Sr. and Myrl Gay Wheeler; a sister. Gay Radford of Hopkinsville, KY and a brother, Fred Wheeler, Jr. of Townsend, GA.
Surviving are his daughter, Stephanie W. Spears, grandson, Cody Jason Clarke, granddaughter Cailee Arianna Myers; siblings, Charlie M. Wheeler, Connie W. Kearney (Ronnie), Shawn Taylor ( Jimmy) all of Statesboro; three nieces and four nephews.
The family will hold a gathering at a later date.
